Ronnie Johnson Wins North Georgia Special

CHATTSWORTH, Ga. (Oct. 12) Ronnie Johnson arrived late but was right on time when he crossed the line first and won the Super Late Model Special at North Georgia Speedway Saturday night.

Johnson would move into the third spot on lap 25, take second on lap 28 and move past number 31 Shane Tankersley on lap 31 to take the lead. After taking the lead he would keep Tankersley at bay and lead the lap five circuits to take home the $3,000 first place money. North Georgia Late Model Champion Gary McPherson was third, Jake Knowles fourth and Riley Hickman fifth.

With the drop of the green flag it was front row starters Tankersley and McPherson in tandem with Tankersley in the lead. Following the lead duo were Mike Weeks and Jake Knowles. On lap 24 the lead two were the same with Knowles in third, Mike Hill fourth and Johnson, who started 15th, in fifth. In the next seven laps Johnson would go from fifth to first.

Rounding out the top 10 were Hill, Todd Morrow, Brad Coffey, Brian Hickman and Ricky Williams.

With over 50 cars in the pits for the Limited Late/Crate Late/Sportsman feature the top 24 were locked in for the A-Main and the remainder competed in a B-Main.

In the A-Main Chip Brindle outran Oliver Gentry and Trig Parris for the win. Chuck Padgett and Spencer Singleton were fourth and fifth. The second five across the stripe were John Ownbey, Todd Morrow, Bryan Ownbey, Brian Burke and Scoty Knowles.

Kevin Burke took the B-Main win over Josh Morrow and Chris Tays. Daven Dilbeck and Randy Dillard were fourth and fifth.

In Hobby action it was Scott Boyd leading every lap and taking the win over Cleveland Speedway Hobby Champion Todd Hernandez. Jamie Parker was third, Corey Cresswell fourth and Greg Suddereth fifth.

Grady Stokes was the Mini Stock winner crossing the line ahead of Stephen Campbell. Donnie Lowe as third, Ralph Langston fourth and Randall McGuire fifth.

The Econo Bomber feature went to Justin Shipley. Shipley who took the lead on the last lap would flash across the stripe ahead of Rob Johnson, Davis Fletcher, Jeff G and Donald Forgey.

On Saturday October 27 there will be another special at North Georgia Speedway feature the same divisions, Super Late Models, Limited/Crate/Sportsman, Hobby, Mini Stocks and Econo Bombers.

Pits open at 3 pm, grandstands at 4 pm with racing starting at 6 pm.
