Chastain Dominates North Georgia Toyota FWD Feature at the Fastest 1/3 Mile in the South
The North Georgia Toyota FWD division brought plenty of action to the Fastest 1/3 Mile in the South with Josh Chastain putting together a dominant performance in the 15-lap feature event Saturday night at North Georgia Speedway. Chastain wheeled the No. 69 machine from the pole position and never looked back, surviving early-race chaos and late pressure to park it in victory lane.
Trouble struck almost immediately on lap one as contact in turn three between the No. 42 of Dakota Quarles and the No. 5 of James Bridges sending Bridges spinning hard into Quarles, bringing out the caution and bunching the field back up for an early restart.
Once racing resumed, Chastain showed the way up front while battles throughout the pack kept fans on the edge of their seats. On lap four, the No. 9E of Raymond Ledbetter suffered mechanical trouble in turn two after the right rear broke, ending what had been a promising run.
The closing stages saw drivers pushing the limits around the slick clay surface. On lap nine, the No. J15 of Justin Goforth spun exiting turn two while running inside the top four, shuffling the running order and bringing another tense restart for the field.
Through all the cautions and pressure, Josh Chastain stayed cool, calm, and collected out front, leading every lap on his way to the feature victory in the North Georgia Toyota FWD division.
"We started on the poll and we just sent it. It was pretty cut and dry. very smooth for the track to be well loved. I felt like I was taking a nice and easy Sunday drive."- Chastain said in a post race Interview.
